Compliance is, at its core, about doing the right thing. In health care, that means ensuring we comply with federal and state laws, regulatory guidelines governing our operations, and policies and procedures. These laws, guidelines and policies exist to protect patients, employees and the hospital.

The Code of Conduct is a guiding set of principles for the operation of UVA Community Health. The Code of Conduct requires that all persons employed, representing or doing business with UVA Community Health, including medical staff, allied health professionals, associates, leaders, board members and vendors exhibit the highest standards of clinical and business ethics and conduct all clinical and administrative operations in accordance with the Code of Conduct and all regulatory and legal requirements.

We help maintain a culture that prevents, detects, and resolves potential violations of the law or policies. A compliance program cannot be effective without the participation of each and every person working for or on behalf of the organization. The Compliance Department supports your efforts to do the right thing and to make sure our ethical, proper, and legal behavior positively influence our patients and community.

Compliance is the responsibility of all team members. This takes individual integrity, courage, compassion, teamwork, and personal excellence. Together we are responsible for ensuring a remarkable experience for every patient. That requires doing the right thing, the right way, at the right time, every time!
